Uncontrolled resource allocation in curl 7.57.0 through 7.83.1 allows remote attackers to exhaust heap memory via HTTP responses. Curl_build_unencoding_stack accepted every Content-Encoding or Transfer-Encoding step and created another decoding writer without a chain limit. A malicious HTTP server can trigger the default Transfer-Encoding path after the client connects, causing extreme heap growth or an out-of-memory failure.
