Account takeover via unrestricted script upload
Published Oct 14, 2022 · Updated May 14, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in Gin-Vue-Admin 2.5.1 through 2.5.3beta allows remote authenticated users to steal an admin cookie via stored scripts. The Normal Upload component accepts attacker-controlled script-capable content into the Media Library without blocking dangerous file types. A low-privilege account must upload the file and an administrator must view it; the resulting script reads the administrator's session cookie and enables account takeover.
