CVE-2022-32174Network attack vector

Account takeover via unescaped full-name rendering

Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated May 16, 2025

Stored XSS in Gogs 0.6.5 through 0.12.10 allows remote authenticated users to take over an account through a crafted full name. The user-search code in public/js/gogs.js concatenates the API's item.full_name value into an HTML string and inserts it with jQuery .html() without encoding. A low-privileged user must store the payload in a profile full name, and another user must trigger the assignee search that renders it in that user's session.
