Credential disclosure via static XOR key exchange
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Credential disclosure in VISAM GmbH VBASE 11.7.0.2 allows remote attackers to recover Web-Remote login credentials from captured traffic. Web-Remote XORs LOGINREQUEST with a static initial key, then exposes a session key that permits captured LOGIN payloads to be decoded. Exploitation requires visibility into a user's login session; the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of that session's username and password.
