CVE-2022-32158Network attack vector

Arbitrary code execution via client-published bundles

Published Jun 15, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Improper access control in Splunk Enterprise deployment servers before 8.1.10.1, 8.2.6.1, or 9.0 allows attackers to execute code via bundles. The deployment server accepts bundle publication from a client and forwards the client-supplied bundle to other subscribed Universal Forwarders without enforcing publisher authorization. Exploitation requires a previously compromised Universal Forwarder endpoint and deployment-server functionality; successful abuse executes arbitrary code on other subscribed forwarders.
