CVE-2022-32114Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via permitted PDF upload

Published Jul 13, 2022 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Stored XSS reported in Strapi 4.1.12 allows remote authenticated users to run script by uploading a crafted PDF to the Media Library. The Media Library accepts the PDF under the uploader's granted Create permission and publishes the asset; the script runs when a user copies its public URL and opens it in a new tab. The CVE is disputed because Strapi documentation treats JavaScript-bearing PDFs as permitted public assets, and administrators can exclude PDFs from allowed uploads.
