Server crash via unresolved outer column reference
Published Jul 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Denial of service in MariaDB Server 10.4 through 10.8 allows attackers to crash the server with a crafted INSERT or REPLACE SELECT statement. Item_field::fix_outer_field treats an unresolved subquery column as an outer reference because Name_resolution_context retains a select_stack pointer instead of a null outer context. An attacker must be able to submit the malformed data-manipulation statement; successful exploitation terminates the server process and interrupts database availability.
