Database crash via eliminated subquery cache wrapping
Published Jul 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Denial of service in MariaDB Server 10.2 through 10.6.1 allows attackers to crash the database process with crafted SQL. The optimizer unlinks an eliminated subquery from its SELECT_LEX tree but leaves stale references that setup_subquery_caches attempts to wrap without a query plan. An account able to create tables and execute nested subqueries can terminate the database process, interrupting service for all clients.
