Stored XSS via unrestricted avatar upload
Published Jul 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in RuoYi 4.7.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a crafted HTML avatar. The updateAvatar endpoint passes avatarfile to FileUploadUtils.upload without an image-extension allowlist, so an HTML file labeled image/png is stored and served. An account able to update an avatar must upload the file, and another user must open its URL before the script runs in the RuoYi origin.
