Remote code execution via ZIP template extraction
Published Jul 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Mingsoft MCMS 5.2.8 allows remote attackers to execute server-side code through a crafted ZIP archive. The article-thumbnail upload accepts ZIP files because its denylist blocks only EXE, JSP, JSPX, and SH extensions, and TemplateAction then extracts an embedded JSP into a web-accessible path. No authentication or user interaction is required; completing the upload and extraction chain creates a reachable web shell with server-process privileges.
