Unauthenticated IP authorization bypass via stripped forwarding headers
Published Jun 8, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authentication bypass in Apache HTTP Server 2.4.53 and earlier allows remote attackers to evade origin IP restrictions. mod_proxy accepts a client-supplied Connection header naming X-Forwarded-* fields as hop-by-hop and removes those identity headers before forwarding the request. The flaw is reachable only when Apache operates as a reverse proxy and the origin trusts those forwarded headers for IP-based access control, allowing unauthorized access to protected origin resources.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
