Authentication bypass via partial password comparison
Published Jun 24, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Authentication bypass in CODESYS Gateway Server V2 before 2.3.9.38 allows remote attackers to log in with a password prefix. During login, the server compares only the supplied prefix with the corresponding part of the configured password and accepts a shorter match. Network reachability to the Gateway service is sufficient, and successful authentication grants the access assigned to the targeted account.
