Service interruption via kernel resource contention
Published Jun 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Race condition in Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0 and affected EMUI releases allows local users to interrupt normal device operation. The kernel emcom module permits multiple threads to contend for the same resources, disrupting resources needed for normal operation. Exploitation requires a local low-privileged execution context, but Huawei has not disclosed whether the interruption is a hang, crash, or reboot.
