Code injection in Spring Tools 4 for Eclipse 4.16.0 and earlier and VS Code extensions 1.39.0 and earlier allows attackers to execute code. Their YAML editors process document content with SnakeYAML, whose supported special syntax can trigger code execution; the advisory does not identify the parser call or exact tag path. Spring has not disclosed how attacker-controlled YAML reaches an editor, whether user interaction is required, or the resulting execution context.
