CVE-2022-3162Network attack vector

Unauthorized custom-resource reads via relative path traversal

Published Mar 1, 2023 · Updated Mar 7, 2025

Path traversal in Kubernetes kube-apiserver 1.25.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read unauthorized custom resources. Kube-apiserver accepts .. path segments in a namespaced custom-resource URL and resolves the request to another resource type in the same API group. Exploitation requires at least two CRDs in that group, cluster-wide list or watch rights to one resource, and no read rights to the other.
