CVE-2022-31611

Privilege escalation via installer DLL search path

Published Feb 7, 2023 · Updated Mar 25, 2025

Uncontrolled DLL search in NVIDIA GeForce Experience before 3.27.0.112 allows local users to execute code with elevated privileges. Its client installers use an uncontrolled search path and load an arbitrary user-supplied DLL instead of restricting dependency resolution to trusted locations. Exploitation requires user-level access and another user to launch a vulnerable installer; successful loading runs attacker-controlled code and elevates privileges.
