Improper permissions in NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for Linux before the August 2022 release allow local users to access protected D-Bus endpoints. The optional nvidia-dbus.conf policy leaves send_requested_reply and receive_requested_reply unrestricted by message type, granting processes access beyond intended reply traffic. Exploitation requires a low-privilege local account and the non-default Dynamic Boost configuration; successful abuse enables privilege escalation, code execution, data access or modification, or service interruption.
