Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Jul 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unquoted service path in SAP BusinessObjects BW Publisher Service 420 and 430 allows local users to gain elevated privileges. The Windows service registration leaves the ImagePath for bwcepubsvc.exe unquoted, so service startup can resolve an attacker-planted executable before the intended binary. Local filesystem access is required; successful execution runs the planted file with the service account's elevated privileges.
