Local privilege escalation via unquoted startup path
Published Jun 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unquoted search path handling in SAP PowerDesigner Repository Proxy 16.7 allows local users to gain application-level privileges. The proxy's startup path handling can select an attacker-created program in the system-disk root instead of the intended executable. Exploitation requires low-privilege local access and the ability to bypass root-disk write restrictions, followed by application startup or reboot.
