CVE-2022-31549Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file read via unsafe path joining

Published Jul 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Path traversal in olmax99 helm-flask-celery before 2022-05-25 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files via a crafted path. The route_frontend handler passes its attacker-controlled path through os.path.join; an absolute value discards the template directory before send_file returns the resulting file. An unauthenticated HTTP request is sufficient, and the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of files readable by the service, with no shown file modification.
