Unauthenticated file disclosure via unsafe send_file path
Published Jul 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Absolute path traversal in jaygarza1982 ytdl-sync through 2021-01-02 allows remote attackers to read host files via crafted requests. A Flask route passes an attacker-controlled absolute pathname to send_file without confining resolution to the intended download directory. No authentication or user interaction is required; disclosure is limited to files readable by the Flask process, and malformed requests can cause a service interrupt.
