CVE-2022-3152Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account takeover via unchecked target user ID

Published Sep 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Unverified password change in PHPFusion before 9.10.20 allows remote authenticated users to reset another user's password. UserFieldsInput::saveUpdate compares the logged-in user's ID instead of the submitted target user_id, allowing a crafted account update to pass the ownership check. A low-privileged account and a valid password-form hash are required; successful exploitation grants control of the targeted account.
