Arbitrary file read via unsafe send_file path
Published Jul 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Absolute path traversal in Mercury Sample Manager through 2021-04-20 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files. The application passes an attacker-controlled absolute path to Flask's send_file function without confining resolution to an intended directory. No authentication or user interaction is required, and disclosure is bounded by the file permissions of the server process.
