Arbitrary file disclosure via unsafe path joining
Published Jul 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Absolute path traversal in operatorequals wormnest 0.4.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files. The dir_listing route joins attacker-controlled req_path to CONFIG['SRV_DIR'] with os.path.join, so an absolute path replaces the intended base before Flask serves the file. The management endpoint has no authentication, and exposure of its configured path permits disclosure of files readable by the service account.
