Local privilege escalation via writable installation directory
Published May 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper permissions in KNIME Analytics Platform before 4.6.0 allow local users to gain administrative privileges on Windows. The Windows installer grants every local account write access to the installation directory, allowing replacement of files such as the uninstaller. Exploitation requires an administrator to uninstall the application, which runs the attacker-replaced uninstaller with administrative privileges.
