CVE-2022-31483Network attack vector

Root file overwrite via traversal in upload filename

Published Jun 6, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Path traversal in HID Mercury controllers before 1.271 allows remote authenticated users to write files anywhere through the web interface. The file-upload handler accepts ../ path segments in a supplied filename and resolves them outside the intended upload directory. An authenticated web session is required; overwriting system files can install a startup service that runs with root privileges on the embedded Linux system.
