CVE-2022-31480Network attack vector

Panel reboot via unauthenticated firmware upload

Published Jun 6, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Forced browsing in HID Mercury controllers before 1.302, or 1.296 for EP4502, allows remote attackers to reboot panels via firmware upload. Carrier has not published the URL or handler that omits authorization; the exposed firmware-upload path accepts a properly signed and encrypted image. Successful loading reboots the access panel and interrupts availability, while confidentiality and integrity impacts are not reported.
