CVE-2022-31467

Local privilege escalation via unsigned installer DLL

Published May 23, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

DLL hijacking in Quick Heal Total Security before 12.1.1.27 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges. During installation, the installer searches an unrestricted DLL path and loads a located library without verifying its digital signature. A low-privileged local user must place a crafted DLL in a searched location and induce installer execution; successful loading runs that code with installer privileges.
