Unauthenticated file disclosure via unsanitized resource path
Published Jun 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in the Wiris MathType resource handler 7.28.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files. The handler passes the unvalidated resourcefile query parameter to getContent(), which reads and returns paths outside the resource directory. No authentication or user interaction is required; exposed Moodle integrations can disclose configuration files, database credentials, source code, and other server-readable data.
