Code execution via inconsistent segmented-packet SegN
Published Feb 1, 2023 · Updated Mar 27, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Infineon Cypress Bluetooth Mesh SDK BSA0107_05.01.00-BX8-AMESH-08 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code. The lower_transport_layer_on_seg function writes beyond buffer bounds when a series of segmented Bluetooth Mesh packets contains inconsistent SegN values. Bluetooth Mesh radio access is required, and successful memory corruption grants code execution in the affected device context.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
