Host command execution via unescaped breadcrumb href
Published Dec 14, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Reflected XSS in Proxmox Virtual Environment before 7.2-3 allows remote attackers to execute web scripts through crafted API paths. The API inspector concatenates a non-existent /api2/html/ request path into a breadcrumb link's href attribute without HTML encoding. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to follow a malicious link in the same browser session, enabling actions available through the web interface, including host command execution.
