Administrator-level stored XSS via unsanitized analytics ID
Published Oct 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Goolytics – Simple Google Analytics before 1.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in visitors' browsers. The settings handler stores the goolytics_web_property_id value without sufficient sanitization, and the plugin later renders it without output escaping. Administrator-level access is required to save the payload, which runs when another user opens the affected page even if unfiltered_html is disabled.
