Malicious dependency execution in api-res-py 0.1 allows attackers to steal browser data when the package is installed. Its dependency metadata names the malicious request package instead of the legitimate requests library, causing the counterfeit package to be retrieved and its backdoor code to run. Installation is the required gate; the payload can harvest browser cookies and saved credentials and download additional malware.
