Building access takeover via exposed administrator credentials
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Credential disclosure in Nortek Linear eMerge E3-Series through 0.32-09c allows remote attackers to obtain admin credentials via /test.txt. The device writes changed administrator credentials in clear text to that unauthenticated endpoint, which any network client can request. Exposure occurs after the factory admin credentials have been changed, enabling control of connected doors and other building systems.
