Unauthenticated file disclosure via resource path traversal
Published May 21, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in Gitblit 1.9.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to read website files via crafted /resources/ requests. The /resources/ route accepts parent-directory segments after /resources//../ and resolves WEB-INF or META-INF paths outside the intended resource tree. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the documented consequence is disclosure of files packaged with the web application.
