CVE-2022-31234Network attack vector

Account takeover via unrestricted password guessing

Published Jul 20, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Improper login-attempt restriction in Dell PowerStore before 3.0.0.0-1732745 allows remote attackers to brute-force GUI passwords. The PowerStore Manager authentication path fails to sufficiently restrict repeated password attempts, although Dell has not disclosed the responsible handler or enforcement logic. No authentication is required to submit guesses; account takeover requires discovery of a weak password, and the system management account is the documented target.
