Link following in ABB engineering software allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM through a crafted installer repair. The Drive Composer installer repair grants unnecessary installation-folder permissions and follows a symbolic link when malicious files replace installer content, creating a previously nonexistent file anywhere with attacker-controlled data. Exploitation requires low-privileged local code execution and user interaction; affected releases are Automation Builder 1.1.0 through 2.5.0, Drive Composer Entry and Pro 2.0 through 2.7, and Mint WorkBench build 5866 and earlier.
