Authenticated command execution via unfiltered cmd_string parameter
Published Jul 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command injection in Infiray IRAY-A8Z3 firmware 1.0.957 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands via HTTP. The cmd.cgi endpoint passes the cmd_string URL parameter directly to popen(), causing the web server to interpret attacker-controlled text as a shell command. An administrator session is required, and successful exploitation runs commands with the web server's www-data privileges.
