Unauthenticated PLC code execution via forged downloads
Published Jul 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Insufficient verification of data authenticity in Omron SYSMAC Nx PLCs through 2022-005-18 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary machine code. The PLC accepts downloaded logic without cryptographic authentication, allowing object code to be altered in transit before execution by the CPU runtime. Network reachability is required, but no PLC protection password is needed; consequences include arbitrary code execution and denial of service, while privilege separation limits remain unconfirmed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
