CVE-2022-31205Network attack vector

Web UI password disclosure via unauthenticated FINS reads

Published Jul 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Plaintext password storage in the Omron CP1W-CIF41 Ethernet Option Board allows remote attackers to read its Web UI password over FINS. The board stores the credential in PLC memory words D1449 through D1452, and unauthenticated FINS memory reads return those words without access control. Network reachability to the FINS service is sufficient; disclosure enables access to the option board's Web UI and changes to its network settings, but does not grant PLC access.
