CVE-2022-31191Network attack vector

Cross-site scripting via unescaped search suggestions

Published Aug 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Cross-site scripting in DSpace JSPUI 4.0 through 5.10 and 6.0 through 6.3 allows remote attackers to execute scripts via crafted search text. The discovery.jsp page inserts displayed autocomplete values into labels without HTML escaping, while spellcheck emits suggestion text without escaping it. A victim must open the crafted result; the injected script runs in the repository origin and can access or alter browser-visible data.
