CVE-2022-31186

Identity-provider secret disclosure via OAuth error logging

Published Aug 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Information disclosure in Auth.js NextAuth.js before 3.29.9 and 4.0.0 through 4.10.1 allows local users to read identity-provider secrets. During OAuth error handling, the error logger records provider metadata at the ordinary error level without removing the provider secret. Log access is required; exposed secrets can let the user impersonate the OAuth client and request broader identity-provider permissions.
