CVE-2022-31175Network attack vector

Cross-site scripting via unsafe source-element writeback

Published Aug 3, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Cross-site scripting in CKEditor 5 before 35.0.1 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a victim browser via crafted content. When an editor instance is destroyed, its source-element update mechanism writes unsanitized markup from the data pipeline into the original host element. Exploitation requires an affected optional package, a non-textarea base element, dynamic initialization and destruction, and user interaction; HTML Support and HTML Embed also require unsafe-markup configuration.
