Phishing email injection via unsanitized address rendering

Cross-site scripting in Auth.js NextAuth.js before 3.29.8 and 4.0.0 through 4.8.x allows remote attackers to send phishing HTML by email. The email sign-in endpoint passes the attacker-controlled address into sendVerificationRequest, whose default HTML template interpolates it after replacing only periods with invisible-space entities rather than neutralizing HTML. Exploitation requires an application configured with the Email provider and a recipient who acts on the injected link; the consequence is a trusted-origin phishing message rather than script execution in the application.
