CVE-2022-31066

Credential disclosure via unprotected config endpoint

Published Jun 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

EdgeX Foundry Services before 2.1.1 expose message-bus credentials through /api/v2/config to local unauthenticated users in security-enabled mode. The configuration handler leaves MessageBus options in the returned configuration instead of removing secret fields after client creation, bypassing secret-store access controls. Attackers with local access can read credentials and then intercept or inject EdgeX message-bus data; security-disabled deployments do not require credentials.
