CVE-2022-31049Network attack vector

HTML injection via unescaped recovery recipient name

Published Jun 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Cross-site scripting in TYPO3 CMS before 9.5.34, 10.4.29, and 11.5.11 allows remote authenticated users to inject HTML into recovery emails. The Extbase felogin PasswordRecovery.html template passes receiverName into HTML output without f:format.htmlspecialchars encoding. Exploitation requires a frontend account and a recipient to view the generated HTML message, exposing the mail client's rendered content to attacker-controlled markup.
