Sensitive data disclosure via verbose production errors
Published Jun 2, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Information disclosure in Play Framework before 2.8.16 allows remote attackers to read sensitive stack-trace data from error responses. The Scala DefaultHttpErrorHandler object always renders verbose errors and was the default for CORSFilter and CORSActionBuilder APIs. Exposure requires a production application to use that static object or an improperly configured injected error handler.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
