Root command execution via crafted agent message overflow
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Buffer overflow in Rubrik Backup Service Agent 7.0.1 through 7.0.1-p3 allows local users to gain root access via a crafted message. An affected RBS agent accepts a crafted local message and overflows a buffer, but Rubrik has not disclosed the message field or faulty copy operation. Exploitation requires access to a Linux or Unix host running the affected agent and grants root command execution on that host.
