Credential theft via unchecked SSH connection endpoint
Published May 17, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in Jenkins SSH Plugin 2.6.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to capture stored Jenkins credentials. A plugin HTTP endpoint accepts an attacker-specified SSH server and credentials ID without checking authorization, then uses the selected stored credential for the outbound connection. Overall/Read permission and prior knowledge of a valid credentials ID are required, and the attacker-controlled SSH server receives the credential material used by Jenkins.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
