CVE-2022-3088

Root privilege escalation via unsafe settings change

Published Nov 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Improper privilege management in Moxa ARM system images allows local users with normal privileges to obtain root privileges. The affected moxa-version component lets a normal account change its settings to acquire root, but Moxa has not disclosed the exact unsafe operation. An attacker must already have local user-level access; successful exploitation grants total control of the device.
